Principles
Private and local where possible
Keep work that involves private data or unreleased material on hardware Merrill Withholdings controls, rather than on outside services, wherever that is practical.
A person approves anything that acts
AI may draft, sort and suggest. Anything that sends, spends, signs, publishes or deletes waits for a person to approve it.
Logged
Record what was done, when, and who approved it, so every action can be reviewed later.
Reversible
Prefer changes that can be undone: keep earlier versions, and move files aside instead of deleting them.
