How the platform works
MW Nexus is organized in layers. Each layer has one job, and every division and project carries one of three status labels.
The layers
Merrill Withholdings
Owns and governsThe privately held holding company. It owns the platform, sets direction and makes the final decisions.
MW Nexus
OperatesThe operating platform. It organizes the divisions and projects and runs this website.
ActiveCore
CoordinatesThe hub. It holds the standards and shared services every division uses.
In developmentAbout CoreDivisions
SpecializeEach division has one area of responsibility and belongs to a group: Technology & Intelligence, Entertainment & Creation, Capital & Operations, or Communications & Impact.
Projects
ShipProjects are the work itself. Each one has its own status and a home: a division, or Merrill Withholdings directly.
Status labels
Every division and project on this site carries exactly one of these labels.
- Active
- Running today: released, live or on sale.
- In development
- Being built. Not released or offered yet.
- Planned
- Defined on paper. Work has not started.
A page on this site does not make a division active. A label changes when the work does.
Principles
Build one working thing at a time.
Get one thing working before adding the next. A planned division stays planned until there is real work for it.
Protect before publish.
Secure ideas, code and unreleased work before showing them. Public pages say what something is, not how it works.
Local and private where it matters.
Keep work that involves private data or unreleased material on hardware Merrill Withholdings controls, rather than on outside services, wherever that is practical.
